We thank you for registering your child with one of Warren County's largest youth sports organizations. Your child has joined an independent, volunteer association with more than 500 players ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old (still registered in High School). FRSA has many goals it strives for each year, but our mission is to provide a safe and fun recreational outlet for your child to learn and play the game of soccer. Please review the information below as it should answer most of your questions about FRSA. For more information, go online to www.FrontRoyalSoccer.com PLAYER REGISTRATION Your
registration fee pays for a percentage of the annual cost to operate
FRSA including, but not limited to: Virginia Youth Soccer and US Youth
Soccer player fees, practice and game field usage fees, coaches shirts,
training for our coaches, seasonal participation awards, soccer balls,
cones, administrative and office costs. Registration
fees are non-refundable once your child has been placed on a team. No
specific placement requests are guaranteed, except those relating to
siblings in the same age division. PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES Parents
are expected to exhibit the highest levels of sportsmanship at all
times. Soccer, like all youth sports, is for the benefit and enjoyment
of the children. All parents will be required to review and sign the
Code of Conduct. You will be expected to base your sideline behavior on
these guidelines and those outlined in the Sideline Code of Ethics.
Please follow these guidelines for behavior in order to avoid
embarrassing moments for you and your child. FRSA
is an independent, volunteer based organization. The success of this
program depends on the involvement of all members. We welcome anyone
wishing to volunteer. Please call the FRSA league President or
Vice-President for further information. Also, if you have concerns
or ideas please bring them to the attention of any Board Member so they
may be acted upon in a timely manner. The FRSA Board meets at 7:00PM on
the first Wednesday of each month at the Rivendell Club. The more help
FRSA has from the membership, the better program we can offer. PRACTICES AND GAMES
Practices
are held regularly at locations throughout Warren County. Your child's
coach will determine practice times and locations. NO GUARANTEES CAN BE
MADE REGARDING THE DAYS, TIMES OR LOCATIONS OF PRACTICES. Your child is
expected to attend practices as scheduled. Playing time can be affected
by the amount of practices attended.
During registration, you will need to purchase a FRSA soccer jersey if your child does not already have one. It is recommended that players wear black shorts and black socks for games. ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR SHIN GUARDS DURING PRACTICE AND GAMES. Players should also bring an age appropriate ball (U7 – U9: Size #3; U11 - U13: Size #4; U 15 and Up: Size #5) and water to each practice. Soccer cleats are recommended for Divisions U9 and up. Football and baseball cleats are not permitted as they have a front toe cleat which can cause injuries in soccer. GAME FIELDS Game fields
are located at the newly opened Skyline SoccerPlex located at the corner
of Kerfoot Avenue and Salem Avenue (Old Stump Field Location). NO
PETS AND NO SMOKING OR TOBACCO PRODUCTS WILL BE ALLOWED. FRSA
and VYSA recommend that all spectators are
to remain on the OPPOSITE SIDE of the field from the coaches and
players. All
spectators must remain at least one yard from the sideline and no
spectators are allowed on the end line or behind the goals. FRSA is responsible for the removal of all trash at the fields. Please place all trash in the receptacles provided. PARKING In
addition to the designated parking lot, parking along Kerfoot Avenue is
allowed, but only on the side of the road adjacent to the
Townhouses. COACHES AND REFEREES FRSA
Coaches and Referees are students of the game of soccer. Most of our
coaches come to us with little or no coaching experience. Please be
patient with them as they learn the game of soccer and assist your child
in enjoying the game of soccer. We are always in need of coaches and
referees. Training is available at minimal or no cost.
Materials are also available at Samuels
Public Library for check out. END OF SEASON AWARDS AND PARTIES FRSA distributes small participation awards for every player each season. It is the responsibility of each team to purchase larger awards and host a team party if desired.
Soccer is more than a sport to many across the world. It has become a passion that spans generation to generation. Learning and mastering the skills of the game is the key to developing passionate soccer players. These skills will not be mastered by sideline instructions of pass it or kick it, but by playing into a situation and then figuring out, on their own, the best solution. So that you and your family may fully understand the game of soccer, please try to acquire as much information as possible and watch as much soccer as possible, as a family. Use the materials at Samuels Library, watch soccer on TV and look up soccer information on the web so that FRSA can develop soccer rich families and players who not only play the game, but also are impassioned by it.
